- Growing Market: From 1997 to 2002, revenues in the remediation services industry increased from $5.69 Billion to $7.54 Billion, an increase of 32.5% in five years (Source: U.S. Census Bureau). From 2004 to 2008, revenues are expected to grow by an average annual growth rate of 7.72%. Revenues were $12.28 Billion in 2007, and are expected to reach $13.24 Billion in 2008. In addition, the remediation industry is expected to contribute approximately $5.19 Billion to the US economy in constant 2006 prices (Source: IBISWorld). Anviron Holdings offers an extensive selection of products that are designed and tested in order to address a number of pressing environmental remediation demands, including water purification, beach restoration, and many others.
- Innovative Products: Anviron Holdings produces numerous “green” products for a wide range of remediation applications. For example, the Company produces several products, NuSoil-L(liquid), NuSoil-G(granular), and NuSoil-LC(liquid concentrate) for use in the conversion and restoration of eroded property to productive land. The technology at the heart of the NuSoil products is capable of converting non-productive soil by increasing the biological activity and changing the thermal conductivity, ultimately changing the soil’s ability to retain moisture. Anviron also produces SaltBlocker, an 100% organic additive designed to reduce salt content in soil, as well as AquaSolv-L(liquid) and AquaSolv-G(granular), unique formulations of Polyacrylamides (PAMs) that slow the infiltration rate of water and promote lateral spread through the root zone, limiting leaching and retaining nutrients longer in the root zone. Finally, Anviron also offers DustBlocker and RoadBinder, formulated to achieve improved dust management at mine and building sites with no adverse effects on the surrounding environment. In addition to these unique products, the Company is devoted to ongoing research and development efforts to create new and improved products to answer the pressing demands of this growing industry.
- Government Spending: The Federal Government has a range of remediation programs, the largest of which is the Superfund. The Superfund Act,passed in 1980, empowers the EPA to assess sites that have uncontrolled or abandoned hazardous waste, place these sites on the National Priorities List and establish and implement appropriate cleanup plans. The EPA can either arrange for the cleanup of these sites, or compel responsible parties to perform cleanups or reimburse the government for EPA-lead cleanups. The budget for the Superfund has been over $1 billion each year from 1987 to the present. The U.S. Department of Defense has active and formerly used defense sites that require remediation, and the Deparment of Energy maintains a large expenditure on remediation, much of it linked to its weapons program. According to the Environmental Business Journal, these two departments spent $2.89 billion dollars between them for site remediation in 2002. The DOE created an environmental management program in 1989 to manage the remediation of sites contaminated by defense and civilian activities. The program budget in 2008 is $5.66 billion.
