  • Constantly Growing Market: One of the features of the health care equipment market is virtually uninterrupted perpetual growth. As medical technology improves, the range of treatable conditions expands, and the demand for technology solutions increases. For instance, the global health care equipment market grew to $120.3 Billion in 2005, and is forecast to have a value of $148.8 Billion in 2010, an increase of 23.7% from 2005. The sale of surgical and medical instruments was the leading revenue source, with combined revenues of $94.6 Billion and accounting for 78.7% of the global market (Source: Datamonitor). Currently, the United States is the largest single market, generating 46 % of the global revenues, but international growth is strong, and China is expected to overtake Japan as the world's second largest market by 2009.
  • International Opportunities: In May of 2007, Solos Endoscopy announced that it had signed a distribution agreement with General Commerce and Trade, S.A. de C.V. of Monterrey, Mexico. General Commerce and Trade will partner with Solos Endoscopy to introduce the Solos Breast Endoscopy System to more than 250 hospitals throughout the country. With a population of more than 107 Million, Mexico has typically relied on more reactive treatments for breast cancer, but recently there have been increased attempts at earlier detection and proactive treatment options. The Company estimates that the potential revenues from just the 250 hospitals to be approximately $2.5 Million.
  • Making News: The innovative design of the Solos Breast Endoscopy System has garnered recent industry attention. The product was featured in the March issue of Surgical Products Magazine, in the "Product Showcase" section, with an article that explained some of the numerous benefits of the system. Among some of the advantages of this system is the fact that it allows physicians direct visualization while examining lesions in the mammary ducts at dramatically smaller sizes that currently possible through mammography. An estimated 178,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in 2007, and even with earlier detection, 40,910 breast cancer deaths are expected in 2007 (Source: American Cancer Society). Detection technology such as that of the Solos Breast Endoscopy System could dramatically enhance early detection.
